Teaching Kitchen and Community Garden

Knoxville, TN

Architecture 480/481

Fall 2012

Studio Critic: Katharine Ambroziak

The theme of this studio was designing for the perspective of the child.  The first half of the semester was spent on research and the development of a comprehensive program.  After developing the objectives of the design, a site and building type were chosen to test the premise.  I chose to test my premise of imagination and play through a Teaching Kitchen and Community Garden Center in downtown Knoxville.  I chose to create public green space at the street level and put most of the main program of the building at the subterranean level, with several voids to bring light down to this level.
