Knoxville Museum of Art Addition

Knoxville, TN

Architecture 371

Fall 2010

Studio Critic: George Dodds

In this studio, focusing on the study of place, the challenge was to design an addition to an already successful building in Knoxville, the Knoxville Museum of Art.  There was a lot of analysis of the existing museum that helped to frame a position to take on how to expand.  I chose to treat the addition as a separate building that relates to the existing, and allows the two separate structures to frame a central green space, overlooking World's Fair Park.
